Growers of Quality Plants
Since 1981, Matterhorn has been known for exceptional plants, including Poinsettias, Fall Mums, Cabbage, Kale, and noted spring annual crops. Matterhorn’s growers are industry leaders who serve on numerous national organizations, teach at the New York Botanical Garden, and participate in plant trials. Matterhorn offers several branded plant lines, including the Matterhorn Grown line, which have been featured in combinations available nationwide through QVC. On July 8, 2006, Grower Talks Magazine presented its second annual Young Growers Award to Noah Schwartz, Head Grower and Greenhouse Manager of Matterhorn Nursery, Inc. Sponsored by Ball Publishing and the Ohio Florists' Association (OFA), the Young Grower of the Year Award was announced during the OFA Short Course, an annual trade and education show for the floriculture industry. "It was a privilege to be nominated, particularly since my fellow nominees are among the best growers in the United States," said Noah. "Receiving this award means that the hard work we do at Matterhorn is recognized not only locally, but nationally as well." He added, "To receive such recognition from the prestigious Ohio Florists' Association and Ball Publishing, the premier publisher for the floriculture industry, is an incredible honor." The Gardens at Matterhorn and Special Events
The Gardens at Matterhorn are an inspiring and educational destination for all garden enthusiasts. The Gardens, which include the David Austin Rose Garden, Fern Garden, Hosta Garden and Matt’s Folly Garden are a living example of Matterhorn’s vision. Discover everything from the pleasures of a formal and fragrant English rose garden to the whimsy of a crumbling folly with a green monster – all in one afternoon! Matterhorn offers special events year-round. Landscape Design, Installation and Maintenance
The Matterhorn Landscape Division has completed many noted installations. Matterhorn’s garden designs at the Rockefeller Center Show served as the backdrop for the Today Show and Macy’s chose Matterhorn for the Macy’s Flower Show 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. Matterhorn is honored to be the United States home of the David Austin Rose Garden. Matterhorn designs were also featured at the 2002 US Open at Beth Page State Park, NY.
